Keeping Our Community Safe
The Glen Allen Ruritan Club and the Henrico County Division of Recreation and Parks held the 10th Annual Glen Allen Day Parade and Fair on Saturday, Sept. 16th, 2006 at Meadow Farm Museum - Crump Park at 3400 Mountain Road in Glen Allen, Virginia. The theme for the 2006 celebration was "Keeping Our Community Safe".
The Glen Allen Day Parade started at 9:30AM on Mountain Road at John Cussons Drive and proceeded westbound along Mountain Road, turned right to enter Crump Park and ended at RF&P Park. The Parade Grand Marshals were Henrico County Fire Chief Ron Mastin and Henrico County Police Chief H. W. Stanley, Jr. The Hermitage High School Marching Band marched in the 2006 Glen Allen Day parade.
The Glen Allen Day Arts and Crafts Fair began at 11AM and continued until 4PM. The Glen Allen Ruritan Club cooked and sold pork barbecue, hot dogs and hamburgers. Other refreshments and treats were made available for sale by other clubs and sponsors. Proceeds benefitted the Glen Allen community.
The Glen Allen Elementary School PTA provided family fun and games including tug-o-war, Kids Fun Race (pre-parade), talent contest, treasure hunt, dunk tank, bell ringer contest , face painting, sack races and more.
Local elementary and high school singing groups and local bands appeared on two stages. (see schedule)
Glen Allen Day 2006 was supported by corporate sponsor Haynes Jeep. Other sponsors included Henrico County Federal Credit Union, Holiday Barn Pet Resorts, F. Richard Wilton, Jr. Contractor and VFW Post 10657.
