Goal: Donate, Pack and Ship 200 Boxes to be Shipped to Virginia-based Troops in Combat Zones Worldwide
Want to Get Involved?
- Put a collection box in your place of business, school, church or community center.
- Fill the box with snacks, personal items, reading materials, stationery, etc. Donation guide below.
- Return all boxes to our event at the Shoppes at CrossRidge shopping center (address above)

You Can Help! Here is a List of Suggested Items
FOOD-Small Bags of Candy, Hard Candy, Beef Jerky, Small Cans of Fruit, Coffee and Coffee Filters, Canned Nuts, Canned Chips, Pringles, Canned Tuna, Soups, Powered Drinks like Gatorade. Bags of Noodles (Oodles of Noodles), Microwavable Popcorn
PERSONAL HYGIENE-Toothpaste, Shampoo, Deodorant, Toothbrushes, Soap, Razors, Shaving Cream, Combs and Brushes, Socks
ENTERTAINMENT-DVDs, Magazines, Pens and Paper, CDs, Playing Cards, Batteries (AA mostly), Games, Paperback Books, Disposable Cameras
PROTECTION FROM THE ELEMENTS-Sunscreen, Sunglasses, Deet Bug Repellant, Chapstick, Cleansing Eye Drops
FIRST AID-Band Aids, Antibacterial Wipes, Hand Santitizers, Cough Lozenges, Tylenol, Athlete's Foot Medication
BREAKFAST FOODS-Granola Bars, Oatmeal packs, Cereal, Cereal Bars, Special K Bars.
MISCELLANEOUS-Phone Cards, Flashlight bulbs, Can openers,
SCHOOL SUPPLIES-We are also collecting school supplies the National Guard can give to Iraqi children.
WRITE A LETTER and we'll get it to a Virginia soldier overseas. Tell them you appreciate what they are doing

- Volunteers needed to receive personal items, snacks etc. In 2-3 hour shifts from 11:00AM-finished. Sort the goods and pack boxes to be mailed to the troops.
- based on last year's response, postage will run about $5,000. The Glen Allen Ruritan Club will cook and sell pork barbecue, hot dogs and hamburgers to help raise the funds neeeded. Personal donations accepted.
- a banner which will be sent to troops overseas will be available for the public to sign
